Yousef Omar
For the past 20 years Yousef Omar devoted his life to the teaching of Arabic, language pedagogy and languages teacher learning. He has worked in the UK, in Europe and the Middle East, at top universities in the UK including 14 years at University of London.
Yousef has been involved in this field covering several roles – teaching, teacher training, research, designing materials and setting up schools and language departments in universities.
Yousef has set up many programmes in Languages and Arabic language teaching including the first teacher training programme for teachers of Arabic at University of London and developed the MA in Arabic language teaching.
Yousef is committed to making language teaching more innovative and using creative approaches to language teaching; he has presented at various international conferences and has published in the areas of Arabic language, language acquisition and language pedagogy. His work focuses on creating holistic and innovative approaches to enhance the Arabic language teaching practices in the classroom as well as the development of language learning in bilingual and multilingual contexts.
In this programme Yousef will engage teachers of languages in creative approaches, techniques, and skills for the languages they teach in order to use with their students in the language classroom with lots of on-hand practice and reflective activities
